Where is the best place to shop in bangkok?

i'll be staying in salil hotel sukhumvit soythonglor 1, but im not sure of the surrounding area. but i've been given details that it is near to skytrain station? and is the hotel location near to any shopping paradise, or any major attractions? and famous food information in bangkok as well would help! thank you! ^.^
