Is there a way to fix my lag spikes that occur every 30 seconds or so for about 2 or 3 seconds?

That's pretty much it. i have wifi, i believe a trendnet somethin router that runs at 3.2Ghz and windows xp pro SP2. The only time i really notice the lag is while playing games online like left 4 dead, quake 4 etc.
