I want to trademark a business?

I am about to start a business, but it seems that every name we think of is already taken...........I have noticed on the trademark website there are multiple companies with the same name............How is this possible? I don't want to submit something and have it rejected. We are going to be a screen printing company with our own clothing line, and we want to use the name "Shade".
